Keep Your Mouth Healthy

This year has been the year of Chaos.  It has been an absolutely crazy time and has left many with a whole different life circumstances.  I know that for many people their entire life has changed in that they have had to stay home for extended periods of time.  Lots of Americans have been forced to work from home in order to keep their jobs and what this has done is to change their daily routines.  Many families have children staying at home and not going to school and what this has done is caused grocery bills to increase.  Along with this people are simply eating and drinking more and that is in someways causing their dental health to get worse.  They are forming bad habits and I want to give top tips on how to stay healthy this year with all he changes.

The first thing in order to increase your dental health is to simply create a good diet plan.  The diet the stape of what we do and how we eat. I suggest working on making a plan of what to eat weeks ahead of time and actually sticking to it.  It does not have to be a increadibly healthy diet, but try to work on keeping out foods and drinks that you know will cause plaque to build up and your teeth to erode.  Most of us know what foods and drinks to this and we still are a big arrogent and forget it.  It is not really the worst thing that could happen, but if you are able to eat and drink with the best of intentions you can increase your health.

Once you know that you have a diet in place and are working on cutting out bad foods and drinks then you can actually work on keeping the excess food and sugar off your teeth.  I think that it is important to prevent the major issues by brushing your teeth consistently and  often. The average American only brushes their teeth once a day.  The ADA sugguests that you brush your teeth twice a day in order to get the extra food off of your teeth and to fight that plaque buildup.  It is a wise move to work this amount of brushing into your dental routine.  The difficulty of this can be hard because we are creatures of habit.  In order to create a habit of brushing twice or even three times a day extra work needs to be put in.  This can be done by setting alarms on your phone.  You can schedule out a whole 30 days or a month of alarms in order to put your body on a schedule of brushing 2 to three times a day.  This can help fight the need to leave the house for emergency dental work by being preventative.  That is the whole idea  and the  pandemic.  We can minimalize our exposure by being safer in our own homes as well.

The nex thing is simple and it is something that can be done with almost zero money.  That is to drink more water.  By staying hydrated on a daily basis you are actually cleaning your mouth.  Not only is the water itself rinsing your mouth but it is producing more saliva.  This is the bodies natural cleaner.  It helps to get plaque and tartar building compounds out of your mouth. So drink a little more and be a little healthier!

Teeth Are Worth Working Keeping White

It may be the year of the face mask but that is no excuse to keep your dental hygiene in tip-top shape.  This can be anywhere from adding extra steps in care or even keeping your teeth whiter.  I think that a bright smile is important not only for your mental health but for your career as well.  There is more to simple looking good that can help you succeed, but first impressions mean a whole lot an yellow teeth can be a big problem.  Today I want to go over some ways to help brighten up your smile and even work on your basic dental hygiene as well.

Now there are some basics that everyone knows about.  I would say the basic step that many people start with is using a regular whitening toothpaste as a substitute in their daily routine.  This is usually a great way to work on keeping your teeth bright without actually spending much extra money on the task.  Most name-brand companies have whitening toothpaste, unfortunately, I have never noticed a single bit of difference from a name brand whitening toothpaste.  But I have found a solution that fits the bill.

Another option is to substitute a brush per day with a different kind of toothpaste.  This is a using a charcoal-infused paste.  I was a little skeptical at first but it turns out that the charcoal is a slight abrasive that actually helps to scrub off the plaque and yellowing of your teeth.  This is nice because I have found that after a month of use that it actually works.  I did not do a full switch, but my routine was to change my night brush out to charcoal toothpaste.  This meant I brushed once a day for a month and I actually saw brightening results.  This was done with nothing else changing in my routine.  It meant I still drank two cups of coffee in the morning and eat my normal diet.  Those things can have big impacts on the color of your teeth and that is also another whitening tip.

If you want your toothpaste to work the best at keeping your smile bright, drinking coffee right after you brush can actually cause your teeth to be more yellow.  It actually is giving a wide-open amount of enamel for your teeth to be stained by the coffee.  So this is one major area that you can cut back on in order to get a brighter smile.  It is wise to not drink nearly as many cups of coffee that I do and change it out to say a caffeine pill instead.  This is a smart move in order to whiten your teeth naturally.

If you do need a quick whitening fix I have found strips to work very well.  There are lots of brands that make whitening strips which usually have a week or two regime in order to take your teeth from yellow to bright white.  I have used these on two occasions and they really did work.  It was a bit unfortunate on the reactions though.  I found that the warning label which states it may make your teeth sensitive was an understatement.  They made my teeth feel great amounts of pain and I was never able to finish the whole pack of strips. So be careful on this method, but I hope these ideas help you!

How to Improve Oral Microbiome for Better Dental Health?

A human mouth has several microorganisms. It includes some of the beneficial oral bacteria, and some are harmful to your dentalhealth. An article published in Protein and Cell notes, “it has mentioned that there are more than 1,300 strains of microorganisms in a human’s mouth". However, the oral flora that can make up your oral microbiome is necessary for your dental health. But the significant point is their presence quantity should be balanced. When a person’s mouth goes through the changes, the environment can shatter the happy living and arrangement of the oral microbiome. The disturbance or disruption of such organisms can cause some serious dental diseases, including cavity, tooth decay, gum receding, and some other severe damage to the structure of a tooth. To maintain the healthy bacteria in your mouth, you need to understand the community of good bacteria, then you can improve their presence.

Oral Microbiome

Oral Biosciences is a Journal and it has described that symbiosis as dental/oral microorganisms living in a happy environment in your mouth and dysbiosis is a failure in the relationship between these organisms.

Dysbiosis takes place when there is a movement or shift in the balance. It occurs due to the changes within a person’s oral cavity. Moreover, the imbalance level of dysbiosis microorganisms in a mouth can lead to several dental diseases.

For example, due to the change in diet or reduction in the flow of saliva, a pH level in a mouth gets disturbed and lowers down. Such type of changes in the oral area and ecosystem produces acids and acid-tolerant bacteria that can lead to the amalgamation of plaque on the teeth and cause some serious tooth and gum infections. However, when these diseases grow, you sacrifice the useful bacteria of your mouth. Thus, you are the one who allows them to develop and accumulate. Once they build up in your oral ecosystem, you suffer from dental decay and cavity.

Oral Bacteria and Dental Diseases

Oral bacteria can cause severe damage to the teeth and overall oral health of a person. These are the reason behind dental cavities. It is one of the dangerous and chronic diseases that affect people of all ages. The cavity is painful and the treatment needs time, proper care, and prevention. Moreover, the cure procedure will be unpleasant. Moreover, oral bacteria can also lead to many other acute mouth infections, including gums receding and fracture of a tooth. According to an articlein the Cellular and Molecular Medicine, the bacterium Streptococcus mutants is a primary culprit for the teeth cavities. Moreover, another species of bacteria, called Veillonella has also deep relations with cavity development, especially in infants and teenagers. When there are chaos and imbalance in the oral microbiome, then these microorganisms thrive and develop harmful acid that can disrupt the enamel and the coating of teeth.

Veillonella when merges with Streptococcus mutans, then it causes extreme damages to the gums and roots of the teeth. Moreover, it destructs the structure and outer layer of the teeth.

Improving Oral Microbiome

A person must improve the oral microbiome or keep it balanced. Therefore, one needs to enhance oral hygiene. Do not let the plaque develop on your teeth. The yellow layer can give birth to many harmful bacteria and chronic diseases of the mouth, gums, and teeth. Thus, make sure your enamel is clean all the time. There is no stuck food in between your teeth. However, after taking every meal (especially big meals), everyone needs to floss them and remove the stubborn particles. Moreover, mouthwash is a blessing for the cleanliness and health of your mouth; thus, use it at least once a day.

Fall Drinks Hurt Teeth

It is cooling down outside.  The leaves are starting to turn and the weather says, give me a jacket.  That means that Fall is here and it is time to get into the fall spirit.  Many times this means that Starbucks is launching a new campaign for pumpkin spice something.  It also means that most of us are going to give in and drink lots of those fall drinks that we so love.  There is really only one problem with that and it is the dental costs that stack up due to the love for fall drinks.  Today I want to go over some of the things to know about those awesome fall drinks and what they are doing to your teeth.  And maybe a good tip to know on how to avoid all the dental visits than may be incurred after a good fall season of drinking.

Remember that when you are drinking some of your favorite fall drinks that they are hurting your teeth twice.  What do I mean by that? Well, a good majority of those awesome tasty drinks at Starbucks are actually coffee-based.  That means that you are now not only drinking a very sweet and sugary drink but also one that has coffee in it.  The big issue that comes up with this is the tooth decay that can occur with sugary and coffee-based drinks.  It comes down to the acidity in the coffee and also the sugar in the drink.  These both go into the whole area of breaking down the tooth enamel you have worked so hard to build up.

Be careful not to drink too many of these drinks and try to brush your teeth after getting the acid and sugar off your teeth.  If you don't the extra wear on your tooth enamel will start to cause sensitivity and create those wholes and cavities in your teeth.  That is definitely not a fun thing to deal with and not worth the joy that a pumpkin spice latte can bring.  So be careful with those fall drinks.

Another area that people pick up on in the fall is simply drinking more warm beverages.  This is something that I do, but be careful because coffee tends to be the main drink that people add to their fall diet.  There really is nothing wrong with coffee, but in large quantities or multiple cups each day it can quickly erode your teeth.  Not only will it cause tooth decay to occur faster, but your teeth will undoubtedly get more yellow and brow.  The staining that happens when the coffee acid eats away at your teeth and then the brown color of it attaches to your enamel is inevitable.  So make sure to be careful on how many cups of coffee you are drinking each day.  It may be costly on your wallet and your dentist bill to fill some tooth holes.

One major way to avoid some of the extra tooth decay is to cut back on the number of drinks you are drinking.  That one is obvious, but you can also cut back on the amount of contact your teeth have with these substances.  I know plastic straws are unpopular but metal ones are still good for the environment.  So drink through a straw to help avoid the tooth contact.

Tips to Protect Your Mouth

Being safe and healthy is a big deal in 2021.  The pandemic and mandatory draconian mask laws have changed how we live.  The bad breath we now smell is caused by a piece of cloth that doesn't protect us and is mandatory anyway.  So I wanted to at least give tips on staying healthy during the totalitarian regime we now live in with the United States.  Few things can ruin my day more than waking up to a nasty feeling mouth.  You know what I am talking about right? When you forget to brush your teeth at night and you wake up to a nasty film on your teeth.  That feeling simply haunts me personally and it can make my day from starting at 100 down to a 50 feeling really fast.  So what is that film that grows on your teeth and gives you bad breath?

It is no mystery that a sticky, soft gum-like substance is plaque. It is well known and now we are just seeing it more without attention to dental health in 2021.  When people eat, bacteria in the mouth breakdown the carbohydrates from food into acid, which mixes with leftover food particles and saliva to create plaque.  And if you leave it on your teeth too long it will turn into Tarter.  That yellowy hard substance only leads to worse diseases and some serious complications down the road.  So what are some ways that you can overcome the plaque and tarter? Let me list a few things out to make all our mornings better.

So stay up on the important parts of life and the first tip is simply to set a plan for good dental hygiene.  This sounds really simple, but habits are hard to create.  In order to create a solid habit, you need to do the same routine around 30 times in a row.  So even if that means making an evil alarm on your phone, start the habit now. The American Dental Association recommends that you brush your teeth twice a day. They also recommend that the toothpaste be fluoride based toothpaste. Another area that should become a habit is also to floss once a day.  Rather that is in the morning or nighttime is up to you, but try to get that flossing motion into your system so food particles don’t stick to your teeth for a long time. Also to make sure your hygiene is proper when brushing your teeth make sure you are getting all surfaces.  You may need to make a mental system for starting with the bottom row and then moving to the top.  Make sure your brush strokes are getting to the front and back of each tooth.  If you have to sing a song, feel free to do so, but maybe just in your head! The last section is to use mouthwash to get the final bits of plaque-causing material out of your mouth.  Get a nice mouthwash and add it to the routine. Most of all ask your healthcare provider about their routine and what you should implement into yours.

There is no point in living unhealthily and wasting money on things when your dentist could give you a quick answer.  So be proactive and beat these issues before they begin and that is the biggest tip of all.
